Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer Thackeray is all set to hit theatres this Friday and looks like, theatres are expecting massive footfalls. Otherwise, what would explain the fact that the first show of the film begins as early as 4.15 am. Yes, you read that right!

IMAX Wadala has opened the advance booking for the biographical film which is based on the life of Bal Thackeray, founder of political party, Shiv Sena.  A cinema owner on the condition of anonymity told SpotboyE.com, “There are number of queries about Thackeray. People are curious to see the rise of the Bal Thackeray to power and thus, there is huge demand for the film especially in Maharashtra.”

Thackeray has been creating immense buzz ever since its trailer was dropped. The 2-minute 54-second clip tells the tale of Thackeray’s journey from forming Shiv Sena to eventually ruling Mumbai. Nawazuddin is bound to leave you spellbound with his acting chops and body language. Amrita Rao will be seen as Thackeray’s wife, Meena Tai.



While talking about Bal Thackeray’s character, Nawaz had told IANS, “Balasaheb Thackeray was a transparent personality who empowered the common man and it is a lifetime experience essaying him.” In an earlier statement to PTI, Nawazuddin had said, "One of the important aspects of Balasaheb's character was the ease and the speed of his public speeches. It is important for me to get this ease and speed."

Sanjay Raut, who is also producing the film, revealed why he has cast Nawaz in the project and had said, "I knew Nawaz bhai was the right one. And the moment I set my eyes on him when he walked into our meeting room, he was locked in my head."
